What a Martin Reboot Would Mean For DETROIT in 2018! [Watch] — Google Detroit….mostly everything that pops up on Google are crime reports. Martin TV series reboot could put a positive spin on Detroit’s negative image nationwide. Martin’s reboot could highlight Detroit’s underground talent in music, film, fashion, and the arts. If Martin reboot is actually filmed in Detroit, it could provide jobs for local Detroiters in the TV industry.
As you know…Detroit was the city for the original Martin TV series and it featured some of the biggest names in music at the time. We saw artists such as The Notorious BIG, OutKast, Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Bushwick Bill, Keith Washington, Bebe and Cece Winans, Tone-Loc and Babyface.
In today’s Detroit entertainment, we would probably see features from Big Sean, Eminem, Def Loaf, Tee Grizzley and Trick Trick just to name a few. And don’t forget, Blake Griffin is a Detroit Piston now. We would most likely see features from Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond in a Martin reboot.
Martin originally aired from August 27, 1992 to May 1, 1997. At that time, Detroit had two black mayors “Coleman Young and Dennis Archer”. Now Detroit has it’s first white Mayor in 40 years with Mike Duggan. It would be interesting to see if Martin reboot would touch on sensitive topics such as Race, Donald Trump, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Detroit is a 82.7% African-American city. Detroit is definitely WOKE!!!
How do you think a Martin Reboot would impact Detroit both positively and negatively?
